Brief
Funan Mall returns with its popular art activation in the Lunar New Year. A total of 12 artists were featured, 6 in collaboration with retail outlets, including specially designed creative workshops.
I was reached out by Chan + Hori Contemporary with the task of curating the campaign identity for Funan with their participation at Singapore Art Week.
“No One Plays Alone”
Three concepts were initially pitched to the client. This was selected to be the final concept which has the most versatility and visual impact.
Similar to how rabbits interact with each other and needs companionship in life, this twin play of artists and brands, retail and art, all mirror the life of rabbits who, just like us, are social creatures that do not thrive in isolation.
Art needs its partner, an audience that appreciates its creative energies and ideas. In the Year of the Rabbit, everything comes in pairs.
PASSION colors
This year's key visual depicts rabbits nestling amidst a swirl of psychedelic colours, with Funan colours and passion themes of PLAY, CHIC, TASTE, FIT, TECH and CRAFT.
Art meets retail
These 6 colour visuals were represented across Funan Mall in Lunar New Year. They parallel the 6 artists partnerships with retailers and brands in Funan, as well as 6 specially made rabbit sculptures around the mall painted by 6 other artists.
These were animated and displayed across activation boards, lifts, and printed posters throughout the mall from 6 January to 5 February, 2023.
